Scheelite from Ping Wu, Sichuan Province, China. A small, and inexpensive specimen of this tungstate mineral, that occurs in pyramidal shaped crystals. Scheelite is typically noted for fluorescence and this one fluoresces a dull burnt orange under longwave, but I couldn't get a very good photo. This is something that the eye sees much better than the camera. In normal light the scheelite has a nice golden honey color and has modest translucency. The crytalline faces shows some interesting platey growth structure. A sweet little specimen.
